Celeste Collins

Celeste Collins, Executive Director

Celeste began her employment with OnTrack WNC in November 1993 as a part-time counselor / educator. Over the years Celeste has been a credit counselor, housing counselor, educator, grant writer, marketing director, and fundraiser. 

Prior to joining OnTrack WNC she was Vice President, Regional Sales & Marketing Manager for First Union National Bank’s 88-branches in western NC and has experience as a branch manager in consumer /mortgage lending. A passion for helping people manage their money and credit better inspired Celeste to leave her job in banking to work with OnTrack WNC. 

Celeste graduated from UNC- Chapel Hill with a degree in Business Administration and concentration in Accounting. Celeste is married and has two children. Her community involvement includes: First Baptist Church, The Rotary Club of Asheville, Homelessness Initiative Advisory Committee, Asheville High/SILSA Business Alliance, Wildacres Leadership Initiative – Friday Fellows, WNC Nonprofit Pathways Advisory Committee, and Buncombe County’s Aging Plan Steering Committee.  Celeste received the Asheville Chamber of Commerce Athena Leadership Award in 2010,  and was one of the YWCA’s 2011 TWIN honorees in the Empowerment category. 

Celeste enjoys spending time with her family, playing racquetball, reading, writing poetry, and being an active member of her church community.


Sarah Brown

Sarah Brown, Associate Executive Director

Sarah Brown joined OnTrack WNC in 2007 as the Director of Development & Marketing. Over the years, Sarah has also been the Director of Client Services, Education, and Collaborative Programs. In 2014, OnTrack WNC announced an organization restructuring aimed to better meet the emerging needs of consumers. With the agency's new strategic focus, Sarah assumed management of all program and client services staff and became the leader of the Financial Capabilities Initiative. Its goal is to affect behavior change in clients through financial education and counseling.

Prior to working with OnTrack WNC, Sarah was the Marketing Manager at Neighborhood Housing Services where she implemented the Doors of Asheville event. Sarah received her Master’s Degree in Integrated Marketing Communication from Emerson College and her BA in English from Le Moyne College.  Sarah serves on the Mountain Housing Opportunities Board of Directors.

She enjoys slowly cultivating her yard into a garden, telling (and hearing) funny stories, and daydreaming about retiring in 25 years as a tour guide in Alaska.



Jonathan Stansell

Jonathan Stansell, Program Development & Homebuyer Program Director

Since joining OnTrack WNC in 2006, Jonathan has served many roles from Volunteer Tax Project Coordinator to Financial Educator and Housing Counselor. He now manages the Homebuyer Program as well and the development of new programs to ensure that OnTrack WNC continually evolves to meet the needs of its clients. Jonathan’s training in financial coaching and behavioral economics informs his approach. His recent projects include development of the Credit Builder program, the Student Loan Debt Counseling program, and the Employee Financial Wellness initiative.

Jonathan serves on the board of the Mediation Center. Jonathan likes listening to podcasts and reading books about boring subjects explored in interesting ways. He enjoys potlucks but, to everyone’s relief, prefers washing dishes to cooking. He likes traveling to faraway places but thinks they are too far away.


Wade Rogers

Wade Rogers, Director of Finance & Operations

Wade joined OnTrack WNC in November 2008. He began his career in the Chicago office of Price Waterhouse followed by positions in the US and France with a multinational manufacturing company. Transitioning to the nonprofit sector, Wade worked for the Samuel H. Kress Foundation in New York before coming to Asheville, where he worked on staff or in a consultant capacity for numerous nonprofit organizations prior to accepting his position at OnTrack WNC. Wade holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

He enjoys biking, food, and traveling.



Our Program Staff


Amanda Orders

Amanda Hunsucker, Matched Savings Coordinator & Certified Financial & Housing Counselor

Amanda joined OnTrack WNC in July 2015. She is originally from the foothills of North Carolina, and earned her B.A. in Education from Mars Hill University.  Her professional experience includes teaching parenting skills, teaching life skills to new immigrants, coaching students and their families through the college admissions process, and coordinating volunteer and internship programs.

Amanda feels fortunate that in her work she is able to be source of support to others as they build skills, knowledge, and capacity to achieve their goals!

Amanda serves on the Mars Hill University Alumni Board, and also enjoys volunteering.

Amanda enjoys many different food-related hobbies: gardening, cooking, home canning, and visiting restaurants.


Anna-Marie Smith

Anna-Marie Smith, Financial and Housing Counselor & Educator

Anna was born and raised in Asheville, NC as the third oldest of eight children and strongly believes in “Family First”.  After graduating from Asheville High she joined AmeriCorps Project POWER in 2008 and served as a 5th grade teacher’s assistant at Jones Elementary School and as a Pisgah View Learning Center Coordinator through Children First. Following her AmeriCorp experience, Anna enrolled in the Green Opportunities job training program, became an instructor in that program and within 1 ½ years became the Recruitment and Support Coordinator over all Green Opportunities training programs.  Anna is deeply committed to giving back to local community by learning skills that can be taken back into communities and taught with the intension of educating all people, despite economic background, and showing others there are still good people in our forever changing world. 

In her free time, Anna enjoys spending time with loved ones over good food, playing with Rosco (her beagle), going to movies and perfecting her talent as an amazing chef at home.


Kathryn Beach

Kathryn Beach, Financial and Housing Counselor

Kathryn joined OnTrack WNC in September 2014.  She previously worked as an AmeriCorps Housing Counselor for an affordable housing development nonprofit in rural Eastern Kentucky for 2 years.  Born and raised in a suburb of Raleigh, she graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree.   She is excited to be at OnTrack WNC, where she will strive to enable people to achieve financial empowerment.

In her free time, Kathryn enjoys growing vegetables, cooking healthy food, cheering on her Tar Heels in sporting events, and hiking.  She is excited to be living in a place with so many opportunities to explore and adventure, and is always on the lookout for a good spot to hang her hammock and read a good book.


Keely Hollahan

Keely Hollahan, Financial and Housing Counselor

Keely joined OnTrack WNC in June 2017. She grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and received a B.A. in Psychology and Religion/Philosophy from Mars Hill College. She has worked in outdoor education, homeless services and with individuals working towards recovery from mental health and substance abuse issues. She is excited to be able to fulfill her passion by providing services for people to improve their lives and well-being.

Keely enjoys learning about permaculture, growing food, helping others in the community and long distance hiking. She hiked from Georgia to Maine (2,181 miles) on the Appalachian Trail in 2011, and through the state of Vermont (272 miles) on the Long Trail in 2013. She cannot get enough of the Blue Ridge Mountains.


Pete Wrublewski

Pete Wrublewski, Financial and Housing Counselor, Educator & Tax Coordinator

Pete joined OnTrack WNC in November 2016. Originally from Massachusetts, he also lived in Oregon and Zambia before landing in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Pete spent 4 years in Zambia, teaching a range of topics from English to Agroforestry.  He has over 10 years of volunteerism and non-profit experience, including with the Peace Corps and Mass Audubon.

Pete enjoys traveling and has been across the U.S. and to 7 countries in North America, Africa and Asia. He hopes to add South America to that list.


Suzanne Ellison Financial Counselor

Suzanne Ellison, Certified Credit, Housing, & Reverse Mortgage Counselor

Suzanne joined OnTrack WNC in September 2010.  Originally from Charlotte, she has lived all around North Carolina, but has called Asheville home since 1996.  Suzanne came to OnTrack WNC with the goal of helping people by combining her love of teaching with the knowledge she gained from nine years working in a bankruptcy law office.

When she’s not working, Suzanne likes to spend time with her family, travel, read (especially murder mysteries), and knit.


Tamara Lee

Tamara Lee, Women's Financial Empowerment Center Coordinator, Communications Manager & Educator

Tamara joined OnTrack WNC in October 2011. Originally from Waverly, Iowa, she graduated from Iowa State University with a BFA in Art & Design and a minor in Spanish. Prior to joining OnTrack WNC, Tamara owned her own consulting business specializing in administration, events, and design.

Tamara relocated to Asheville from Austin, TX in January 2010 so she could spend more time outdoors enjoying the four seasons. In her free time, Tamara can be found doing her art, hiking with her dog Kleo, being a professional sushi taster, and relaxing with good friends.


Virginia Wells-Layne

Virginia Wells-Layne, Bridge Program Coordinator & Certified Financial & Housing Counselor

Virginia joined OnTrack WNC in July 2016. A native of Asheville, NC, Virginia graduated from UNC Asheville in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts. Prior to joining OnTrack WNC, Virginia worked as the manager of a retail store, as a legal assistant, and as a research assistant at a college library. She is delighted to be at OnTrack WNC, where she hopes to assist members of the community in reaching their financial goals.

In addition to volunteering at varied local non-profits, Virginia enjoys traveling in distant lands. She has visited Scotland, England, Wales, Italy, France, Puerto Rico, and several of the Virgin Islands, and she hopes to add to that list in the near future. Virginia also loves reading, learning how to cook, lifting weights, knitting, writing fiction, time with loved ones, and laughing until it hurts.

Ellen Szedon

Ellen Szedon, Client Services Supervisor

Ellen was very happy to join OnTrack WNC in January 2010 after finishing her Masters in Geography and Planning through Appalachian State, where her focus was on affordable housing. Before pursuing her graduate degree, Ellen was an ESL instructor in Asheville and for a time in Cuenca, Ecuador.

Ellen enjoys playing very non-competitive tennis, reading books for her fantastic book club, and hiking on mountain trails with friends.


Linda Brinkley

Linda Brinkley, Client Service Representative

Linda Brinkley joined OnTrack WNC in December of 2015. Linda is originally from Tennessee, and moved to North Carolina to attend Warren Wilson College. She has been a client and volunteer with OnTrack WNC over the past few years. She enjoys sci-fi and exploring our mountains.



Emily Matthews

Emily Matthews, Operations Associate

Emily joined OnTrack WNC in May of 2015. Emily is an Asheville native, and glad to be back in the mountains after studying at NC State University in Raleigh. She graduated with Bachelors of Arts degrees in History and Religious Studies. Because Emily also has a minor in Spanish and studied with a Spanish intensive program in Santander, Spain, she is available to help callers and clients for whom Spanish is their preferred language. Prior to joining OnTrack WNC, Emily worked as a teacher, student assistant, and community organizer.

In her free time Emily enjoys reading. She also loves crafting and sewing, and trying out new recipes.

Regi Blackburn, Volunteer

Regi began volunteering with OnTrack WNC 2006, working closely with Becky Brown and the Home buyer Education Program.   For over seven years, Regi has donated his time and expertise in the Asheville community, focusing most of his energy with Home buyer Education programs. We are so fortunate that Regi has chosen to be involved with our work! He and his wife Katherine settled in Asheville in January of 1997, relocating from Greensboro, NC.  

Regi enjoys hiking and volunteering in his local community.

Volunteer Tax Project Shift Supervisors

Our Shift Supervisors LOVE taxes! Collectively, Cathy, Jack, and Sherman have 13 years of dedicated service to our Tax Project. For the 2015 tax season, they assisted our Tax Preparation volunteers in preparing 1,002 tax returns for total refunds of $747,893. We are so fortunate that Cathy, Jack and Sherman have chosen to be involved with our work, providing invaluable expertise, leadership, and commitment to quality.
