OnTrack WNC Celebrates Largest Single Gift to Endowment Fund!

On December 28, 2010, OnTrack Financial Education & Counseling received the LARGEST single gift from a private/individual donor in the history of the agency - a gift that increases the endowment by over 20%!  The gift came from long-time agency supporter and board member Dawn G. Starks, CFP® and Owner of Starks Financial Group.

"When Dawn made the incredible gift of $10,050 to the OnTrack WNC Endowment, I was speechless!” said Celeste Collins, Executive Director. “For years we have benefited from Dawn's involvement on our board, executive committee, and as board President. She has always been a strong supporter of our work with her time, expertise, and money.”  

At OnTrack WNC’s annual board retreat on January 28th,  Dawn was recognized with the Starks Legacy Award. Created to commemorate Dawn’s historic gift, OnTrack WNC will use this new award to recognize individuals who demonstrate an enduring commitment to the financial empowerment of  the people of Western North Carolina through their significant gifts to the agency’s endowment fund.

And why did Dawn make such a generous contribution? “I have worked with this agency for 11 years now, in the capacity of class instructor and board member.  I cannot say enough wonderful things about the agency – their mission is inspiring, their management is absolutely top-drawer, and their staff is fabulous,” said Dawn Starks. ”They are an agency that walks their talk, and I appreciate that, as that is my life philosophy too.”

OnTrack WNC launched its endowment in 2008 at the annual Financial Literacy Luncheon with over $20,000 in gifts from agency board, staff and friends. Gifts to the OnTrack WNC endowment help ensure that OnTrack Financial Education & Counseling will have a strong future of helping our community.
